Workforce Management – Maintaining a productive Force

On the whole, workforce management Australia (or WFM) is the term that encompasses all the activities in maintaining a productive force. This includes scheduling, forecasting, performance management, intra-day management, time keeping and attendance.

Essentially, it is all about the assignment of the right employees with the right skills to the right job at the right time, all of which are to meet demand. This integrated process is one where the company optimizes the productivity of its employees (individual, departmental, and entry-wide.)

The process

The main process involved here is all aimed at maximizing the performance levels and the overall competencies of the members of an organization (employees). This involves many activities that are all needed in maintaining a productive force.

Some of the more important activities involved here include field service management, human resources management, recruiting, data collection, forecasting, budgeting, analytics and scheduling. The program has provisions for a common set of performance-based tools for use.

Also included are the top corporate management, the front-line supervisors, store managers and the workers in manufacturing, distribution, transport and retail operations. Sometimes, this is referred to as the HMRAS systems (or WFM).

Functions

Also in essence is the fact that WFM is a total approach in making the company workforce as productive as can be. This is also aimed at reducing labor costs, and improves customer service. Developed from the old traditional approach to staff scheduling, WFM had developed into a more integrated and demand-oriented process.

Under the umbrella of demand orientation and optimization, the system has incorporated such items as forecasting of workload and required staff, employees involvement in the scheduling process, managing the working times and other accounts.

Also included are the analytics and monitoring of the whole process as well as online training with coaching to raise the required proficiency levels of the workers.

The main focus is the clear definition of the required work through the designed standards and optimal methods for the tasks. With this as basis, the workers are scheduled, have measured performances in the assigned tasks and are provided with feedback for the incentive to be computed and paid.

Assessment of needs

The company man may have the dilemma of whether to replace the entire HR system because it had become obsolete. The alternative is also to consider consolidating the HR apps into one simple provider. This is to guide in determining the company’s specific needs and sets of systems.

Overstaffing (or understaffing) anywhere can cut into to company’s profitability and reduce overall productivity. This can also frustrate employees and antagonize clients and customers.  With WFM, things can turn back unwanted scenarios and movements in the organization.

This is coupled by the fact that customer service had already raised expectations concerning the many challenges within the company. This can come true especially with the arrival of work from many points (call centers, back office, the branches, etc.)

workforce management Australia can rightfully balance the many aspects like the workload, the staffing, and the many other associated procedures in all areas of concern in the company.
